‘Of Myths and More’ is a show conceptualised to feature artists who tap into the vast reservoir of the transcendental mythological stories to express contemporary concerns.

The artists featured in this show are Debraj Goswami, Hema Upadhyay, Heeral Trivedi, Hanuman Kambli, Sachin Karne, Santosh Morajkar, Shruti Nelson, K K Muhamed and Vidya Kamat.

The show’s curator Jasmine Shah Varma feels that certain episodes, characters and situations in ancient myths continue to thrive in the memories of people. We make references to them all the time even if consciously we discard them as fantastical stories good only for bedtime. The true purpose of myths is to understand human nature, the ideas of life and death, to know oneself and the vagaries of life, which continue to be explained through these archetypal stories. For instance to understand the complexities of political games a reference to Mahabharat is made. As soon a situation is described as Mahabharat its gravity and intensity is conveyed to us.
