The EAST/WEST Project

East / West Project is a nonprofit initiative that encourages cultural exchange by establishing short term project spaces for international artists to share, develop and progress contemporary ideas.Traveling annually to a different city with an unique emerging art identity, EAST/WEST Project provides leading contemporary art communities with worldwide access to each other, the ability to collaborate and a physical axis for developing ongoing cultural dialogue.

“ Step toward Home “

Opening Reception: June 4 (7pm – 10pm)

Special opening reception performance, June 4 (7-10pm) "Homeland Security" by Global Alien.
In a site specific live performance, Global Alien creates a physical gateway to the gallery which questions how one functions when moving toward or away from home. Visitors enter the exhibit through this lively, interactive exploration of the obstacles passed on the way to a destination. One's route becomes halted for a moment to consider the bigger scheme of being in transit. The visitor is caught in an in-between environment of potential restriction or liberation, much in the way that any one "home" can be over one's lifetime.
