Hester Cox

19/11/10 - 31/12/10

In 2003 printmaker Hester Cox left her home in Leeds, North Yorkshire and set off on a journey around the world which continued for over a year. Having always taken inspiration from plants, animals and nature, the contrasting surroundings of Asia and South America (amongst others)created new ideas and eventually influenced a body of work using her well-known collagraph technique as well as unusual solar-print techniques. The work was exhibited in ‘Journeys’, Hester’s first solo exhibition at The Gallery, Masham.

Since Journeys was exhibited four years ago, Hester has moved to Masham, exhibited across the country and has been established as one of the most recognisable and collectable contemporary printmakers working in the north today. In her new exhibition ‘Home’, rather than looking overseas for inspiration, Hester rediscovers her love of the British countryside, wildlife and seasons, explores what this country means to her and why it will always be ‘home’.
