Union Gallery

Union Gallery first opened it's doors in June 2009. Established to bring the very best of the contemporary art scene to the public view, and to offer the finest service to buyer and artist alike, we believe we run a gallery a difference.

Union Gallery is owned and managed by contemporary artist Alison Auldjo, and we are proud of the quality of the artists we have attracted as our partners. With particular emphasis on work you will not find elsewhere, we have brought together collaborators from across Scotland and beyond, from established, highly regarded painters who do not exhibit in Scotland, to exciting new talents that deserve a wider audience.

Forthcoming Exhibitions

Union Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by highly regarded and multi-award winning, Glasgow-based painter Annette Edgar. Having been exhibiting in London and overseas, we are delighted that Edgar has chosen Union Gallery for her return to Scotland with an exhibition that promises to be a highlight of the Scottish art calendar for 2013.

Annette Edgar’s distinctive, semi-abstract landscapes and figures are saturated with searing, jewel-like colour and are rich in texture and pattern. Her bold and confident compositions, with strong mark making, allow the viewer a sense of escapism along with a highly rewarding viewing experience. The paintings have presence and command an audience: this is an exhibition by an artist who holds dear all the qualities and traditions of what it is to make great art.

Artist, writer and critic Jack McLean says of Annette Edgar’s work: ‘I know of no other Scottish painter whose paintings burn with such colour. You come away from an Annette Edgar exhibition with a suntan.’

Reason enough to view this special exhibition.

07 August - 03 Sept
Mark of Beauty

We live in a period of decadent mannerism- where gimmickry is preferred to originality, sensationalism to sensitivity, slickness to skill and fashion to taste. Thankfully however, for those who care about the condition of painting, the high aesthetic ideals for which abstraction stands, have not been completely crushed. The invigorating and enduring strengths which abstract painting contains are vitally needed for the recovery and future well being of our beleagu... [ Read all ]
