Painters and artists from the sub continent of India, both of the traditional and contemporary schools, have used a wide range of medium to give expression to their vision of life. From the mud and stonewalls to the soft delicate silk and cork, artists have created exquisite work of art of great excellence. However, the great majority of people are unaware of this.


Visual art acknowledges the fact that art transcends all barriers of class, creed and culture. Civilizations are at their best when they allow art and culture to flourish. When all other historical evidence has been wiped out, art and art alone remains as the true traditional reflection of our heritage.

“DASTAK”

AN EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART BY TEN YOUNG INDIAN ARTISTS.

15th – 21 APRIL 2007

Visual Art UK is bringing to London a contemporary exhibition of ten extremely talented young artists. This unique exhibition titled ‘Dastak’ is both diverse and exiting in terms of form, dimension, content and choice of materials that range from oil and watercolour paintings to wood and metal sculptures. Abstractions, contrasts, duality, humour and poetry are interwoven into the compositions.

The artists all come from different backgrounds and schools of thought. Viewers will be delighted at the expression of varied human emotions of the artists where each piece of work displays it’s own individual theme and style.

The show will open on Sunday, the 15th of April 2007 at 4:30 pm.

A private viewing will be held on the Monday, the 16th of April from 6:30 pm onwards.

The venue of the exhibition is - 28 Cork Street, Mayfair, London WIS 3NG and it will be on view daily from Monday through Saturday between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm.
