Virgile Simon Bertrand’s exhibition ‘Proxemics’ draws together the key concerns that dominate his practice: people and the authority of space, not only over the way that we live, but also over the way that we communicate with each other. Bertrand’s portraits and architectural photographs consider the physical and emotional perceptions of space, from the way that people behave within the spaces allotted to them, to the way that space is manipulated within the physical confines of the built environment.
