Gallery/Dealer Details - Verve Gallery of Photography

Verve Fine Arts has opened its expanded new space at 219 East Marcy Street. The renovated space includes a new large main exhibition gallery which will house current shows, and have select works from Verve’s represented artists. In addition, the existing Verve gallery space will include office space for VerveLabs web design, and an exhibition room for Scheinbaum & Russek Ltd where select works from their exceptional gallery inventory will be on view on a rotating basis. Visitors will now be offered a more comprehensive experience while visiting the gallery, being able to enjoy both contemporary works from Verve Fine Arts’ artists, and master/classical works selected from Scheinbaum & Russek’s unique inventory, which includes work by such photographic masters as Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Harry Callahan, Laura Gilpin, Beaumont Newhall, Eliot Porter, Aaron Siskind, Alfred Stieglitz and Minor White to name a few.

Verve Fine Arts Gallery, owned by web designer Wilson Scanlan, evolved out of Scanlan’s company VerveLabs Web Design, which specializes in creating websites for artists working in all media. Scanlan founded Verve Fine Arts Gallery in 2002 to further showcase artists' work.

Verve Fine Arts has developed an innovative gallery concept to exhibit photographs. A state-of-the-art computer system enables visitors to browse entire portfolios of an artist's work online, both at home and in the gallery. The expanded gallery showcases the artwork, catalogues and books of Verve represented artists, as well as concurrent main exhibitions. Viewers can peruse through Verve’s entire inventory of artist portfolios on several large monitors throughout the gallery. The greatest benefit in providing access to entire portfolios online is that a large quantity of work can be stored electronically in Verve’s database compared to the relatively limited number of originals that any gallery can physically store on premise. At Verve Fine Arts, the benefits of the computer revolution are at a patron's fingertips.
