Gallery/Dealer Details - The Barnard Gallery
Barnard Gallery was founded in 2010 by owner and director Christiaan Barnard and is situated in Newlands Village, Cape Town. The Gallery represents mid career and established South African artists whilst also introducing and supporting artists at earlier stages in their career. As a commercial gallery, its key objectives are to further its artists careers by supporting the production, presentation and sale of their work. We are pleased to advise private, public and corporate clients about buying art, and in starting, building and maintaining collections.
Grey Box Projects is the galleries program of profiling work by emerging artists as well as projects by artists represented by Christiaan Barnard that are of a more experimental or temporary nature. These small but focused showcases aim to provide a stimulating platform for exploring new initiatives across a range of practices and media.
The Reading Room is the galleries book and publications resource. Stocking select international monographs, local and international reference material as well as the galleries exhibition catalogues, The Reading Room aims to assist collectors with, and encourage the general public towards the building of private libraries that celebrate visual arts practice.
The Show Room features an ever-evolving and available collection of works from the galleries stable as well as secondary material by other celebrated South African artists.
