Press Releases - Northamptonshire Open Studios
OPEN STUDIOS NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
Over 16 days in September
30th Aug to 14th Sept 2008
Open Studios Northamptonshire - The countywide visual arts event of exhibitions and open studios.
Artists across the county and beyond the borders open their doors to visitors. There is a huge range of work on show by sculptors, furniture-makers, painters, print-makers, photographers, textile artists and ceramicists.
What makes this event unique is its sheer diversity and ‘openness’. Visitors are welcomed into venues that are as varied as the works on show, from coffee shops to manor houses, Victorian factories to religious centers. Artists are exhibiting far and wide. This year’s Central Exhibition, is being held at the Alfred East Art Gallery in Kettering, Saturday 30th Aug to Saturday 4th October 2008. This showcases work by participating artists and also acts as a signpost, directing visitors around the county to visit artists’ in their studios and exhibition venues.
Why not combine a visit with a day in town or spend the late summer days meandering around the countryside – there is something for everyone and every visitor will be welcome. Step into the artists’ hidden world and see life through their eyes. And if you are interested in buying art work, then Open Studios enables you to purchase direct from the artists.
There is a FREE FULL COLOUR BROCHURE, detailing all the venues, artists and their work, which also includes galleries, art & craft suppliers, and information on art related events throughout July, August, September and October. The brochures are available from Tourist Information Centres, Local Libraries and Art Galleries. They can also be mailed to you (see contact info below)
New last year, we were very pleased to welcome the’ jgallery’ to Open Studios, which is based in Moulton, Nr Northampton. They kindly offered a significant prize of money and a solo exhibition to a contemporary artist of their choice who was participating in Open Studios. The artist chosen was sculptor Linda Johns. We are proud to announce that the jgallery will be offering the prize again this year and we look forward to working with them.
For the duration of the event and throughout the year, the Open Studios website has up to date information on exhibitions and events, listings and links to arts organisations and galleries along with downloadable copies of the brochure. Please visit www.openstudios.org.uk
