Press Releases - Union Gallery
03.05.13 - 03.06.13
Union Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by highly regarded and multi-award winning, Glasgow-based painter Annette Edgar. Having been exhibiting in London and overseas, we are delighted that Edgar has chosen Union Gallery for her return to Scotland with an exhibition that promises to be a highlight of the Scottish art calendar for 2013.
Annette Edgarâs distinctive, semi-abstract landscapes and figures are saturated with searing, jewel-like colour and are rich in texture and pattern. Her bold and confident compositions, with strong mark making, allow the viewer a sense of escapism along with a highly rewarding viewing experience. The paintings have presence and command an audience: this is an exhibition by an artist who holds dear all the qualities and traditions of what it is to make great art.
Artist, writer and critic Jack McLean says of Annette Edgarâs work: âI know of no other Scottish painter whose paintings burn with such colour. You come away from an Annette Edgar exhibition with a suntan.â
Reason enough to witness this special exhibition.
