'The ClintonObama Games Table'
by h. ollary. b.
May 7th - June 9th, 2008

'The ClintonObama Games Table', a new work by the Northern Irish artist h. ollary. b. was launched in Milan, Italy during the Salone del Mobile last month is currently on exhibit at Love Wood Gallery in Antwerp, Belgium.

The table is created from solid American white oak, with a Draughts or Checkers board in American cherry covered with birch and ebony. Twenty-four counters in cherry and walnut are covered with the images of the candidates for the Democratic Party nomination for President of the US: 12 with the face of Sen. Hillary Clinton and 12 with the face of Sen. Barack Obama. The counters are laid out in the traditional formation with which a game of Draughts or Checkers begins. Four points of swinging light reflect up through the games board from below to highlight the hand painted collage representing the colours of the flag of the US which covers the surface of the table.

Artist’s Statement on The ClintonObama Games Table:

"The fact that a Woman and an African American are running for President of the United States makes everyone in America a player in the ClintonObama political game.

Maybe it is heralding in a time that is more analytical, more conceptual and more reflective or, who knows, maybe it’s just another game of fickle fun.

Explore your thoughts on The ClintonObama Games Table."

h. ollary. b., 14th April 2008

The table measures 120cm x 105cm x 33cm

It is a signed unique piece.
