Photo Description:
This long-term exhibit features the Museum's collection of Georgia O'Keeffe paintings. Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) first painted in New Mexico during the summer of 1929. During the 1930s, O'Keeffe perfected her landscape paintings that have become identified with her mature style. These paintings reduce the complexities of New Mexico landscapes to simplified, flattened forms that shift back-and-forth between representation and non-objectivity. O'Keeffe's aesthetic vision is her legacy to New Mexico. Her paintings offer sublime environments for contemplation, meditation, and renewal.
