Group Tours for College Classes
Visit the Museums' permanent collection galleries and special exhibitions for a discounted admission fee. Docent-led tours must be arranged four weeks in advance. Tours are 45 minutes long. Call 415-750-3528 or e-mail cinaba@famsf.org.

Groups are welcome to self-tour the museum. These visits can be arranged two weeks in advance. Use the College Self-Visit Request Form, call 415-750-3528, or e-mail cinaba@famsf.org for more information.

The Museums' collection of works on paper (prints, drawings, photographs, books) is also accessible for classes of up to 20 students to engage with works from the permanent collection. Object selection and class sessions are coordinated by a curator in the department. Please call 415-750-7626 or e-mail lsiddons@famsf.org for an appointment.

Private tours of the permanent collection are offered to college groups in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, and Cantonese on a limited basis. These tours must arranged four weeks in advance. Call 415-750-3528 or e-mail cinaba@famsf.org.

Sketching in the Galleries
Sketching with pencil on an 9" x 12" or smaller hand-held pad is allowed without special permission during regular museum hours. Special permission must be obtained if using easels or large pads. Permission to sketch can be granted only for objects belonging to the Fine Arts Museums. Call 415-750-3528 or e-mail cinaba@famsf.org.

Education Department Internships
1) Resource Center for Education
The Resource Center for Education is open to educators and museum visitors with an interest in arts education. The center offers visitors an opportunity to plan for museum visits, create classroom acitivities, or use the Museums' resources. To apply for an internship in the Resource Center for Education, please e-mail cinaba@famsf.org.

2) Museum Ambassador Program
Established in 1982, the Museum Ambassador Program recently won an award from the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities for making a remarkable difference in the lives of youths and children. College student and graduate interns train students from San Francisco public high schools to give presentations and tours about the Museums' collections to elementary school classes and community groups. Lectures by Docents
Slide lectures by Docents focus on special exhibitions or the permanent collection and are offered regularly in the museum and off-site. The museum lectures are free after museum admission and the lectures given off-site are available for a discounted fee to college groups. Cll for a current listing. Private slide lectures in the community can be arranged. A variety of topics highlighting the Museums' permanent collection or special exhibitions are available. A fee is charged. Scholars, faculty, and curators give public lectures as part of the continuing education program for FAM docents. These lectures are offered year-round and are open to the public. Call for a complete listing of these lectures.

Events for College Students and Faculty
Throughout the year the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco offer college-related events that are held in the evenings or afternoons at the Legion or Honor of the de Young. The events include free admission into the museum and special exhibitions, docent tours, and artist demonstrations. Some events include a light reception, entertainment, and student art exhibitions.
