Since its inception

Schools

The Art Gallery is committed to bringing quality educational programs to the general public in a variety of forms; there are school and public tours lead by trained docents, public lectures and open forums, our unique outreach program Gallery-in-the-Schools, tours for visually impaired individuals, the Education newsletter and exhibition guides, and a variety of studio classes both on-site and off.
Our Resource Room includes books, slides, teacher's kits, videos and reproductions, all of which may be borrowed for a nominal fee. For more information, please contact Education Program Assistant, Christine Scott, at 250.384.4171 ext. 227

Please check the website for up to date listings of all activities, tours and workshops http://aggv.bc.ca/schools.aspx

Families

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is committed to providing quality, educational experiences for youth and families. From the successful Children’s Art Studio program, to the enjoyable monthly event, Family Sunday, the Gallery’s programming is designed to help young people engage with art from an early age. All programs encourage visitors to visit current exhibitions, look at the art work and respond to their experience through related art-making activities.

Adults

Adult patrons are an important demographic at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. For the working professional, the Gallery offers late night openings on a Thursday evening. The V.I.B.E program (Visit & Interact. Be Engaged) is an opportunity to learn more about current exhibitions through curator’s tours, lectures, film screenings and demonstrations. A V.I.B.E. event takes place every Thursday evening.
The Gallery offers regular tours for adult patrons. ART INTEREST takes place twice monthly from September to June. And Saturday afternoon tours are offered throughout the run of larger exhibitions, such as Baroque Masterworks from the National Gallery of Canada.
For the emerging professional, join the Young Associates for a Friday night URBANITE event is the perfect opportunity to mix with curator’s and artists, mingle over martinis and music and muse over visual culture.
