Art Gallery Of Hamilton

The Art Gallery of Hamilton reopened in May, 2005 after extensive renovations. It is now the 2nd largest public art gallery in Ontario in terms of exhibition space.

Permanent Collection

The AGH has a permanent collection of approximately 8500 art works, and houses one of Canada’s most comprehensive collections of Canadian historical, modernist, and contemporary art. It also has strong holdings in British and American 20th century works, which are unique to Canada, as well as an impressive European collection. In February 2003, the AGH received one of the most significant donations of art ever gifted to a Canadian gallery – 211 works of nineteenth-century European art from the Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Collection.
