Barbara Hepworth Museum And Sculpture Garden

Visiting the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is a unique experience, offering a remarkable insight into the work and outlook of one of Britain's most important twentieth century artists. Sculptures in bronze, stone and wood are on display in the Museum and Garden, along with paintings, drawings and archive material.

Barbara Hepworth lived and worked in Trewyn studios, now the Hepworth Museum, from 1949 until her death in 1975, and created many of her most famous works there. The subtropical garden was an essential part of Hepworth's creative process, when she died it opened to the public as a permanent setting to exhibit her works. Tate has managed both studio and garden since 1980.

Exhibitions

Barbara Hepworth's studio and garden have been run by the Tate since 1980. Hepworth asked in her will that Trewyn Studios and the adjacent garden, with a group of her sculptures placed as she wished, be permanently open to the public.
