Chateau De Prangins

Chateau de Prangins: A place that lifts the spirit and the senses.

A chateau straight from a book, romantic parks, an enchanting sit in the middle of Lake Leman: it’s in this charming place where a visitor gets to discover Swiss history from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Permanent Collection

The National Museum presents Swiss life from this time through its cultural, political, economic, and social aspects. The objects, paintings, and photographs make up a multi-faceted image of Switzerland during that era. Split into four overarching themes, the permanent exhibition deals with noble and bourgeois society, rural economy of the Old Regime of which the Chateau was central, the fall of the Old Regime, the modern Federal State, and the transition from an agricultural country to an urbanised and industrial nation. Before this was a country of immigrants, it was a country of emigrants.

The Vegetable Garden has conserved fruits and vegetables from the 18th century. Its restoration evokes images of the time and the pleasures of gardening and horticulture.
