Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery

Since 1972, the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, has offered a dramatic exhibition space for large, thematic group and solo exhibitions that reflect the current or retrospective work of area artists. As a municipal exhibition program, we have an inherent mission of representing the visual arts in Los Angeles as broadly as possible. As the premier exhibition facility of the Cultural Affairs Department -- the largest and only facility solely committed to art exhibitions and education -- we also have the responsibility to present high quality exhibitions that interpret and make the visual arts accessible to Los Angeles and surrounding communities. COLA 2007
The Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) has awarded its 2006-07 City of Los Angeles (C.O.L.A.) Individual Artist Fellowships to 15 exemplary mid-career artists.

The 2006-07 C.O.L.A. award recipients in visual art are: Paul J. Botello, Aya Dorit Cypis, Caryl Davis, Andrew Freeman, Clement S. Hanami, Helen Lessick, Ruben Ortis Torres, Coleen Sterritt, Lincoln Tobier, Carrie Ungerman, and J. Michael Walker.

The 2006-07 C.O.L.A. award recipients in literary arts are Diane Lefer and Luis Rodriguez. The 2006-07 C.O.L.A. award recipients in performing arts are Hector Ariztizabal,Phil Ranlin, and Heather Woodbury.Each

Fellow is peer-reviewed in a non-thematic selection process and is granted $10,000 to create new work. The culminating exhibit is free to the public and scheduled at the Barnsdall Municipal Art Gallery and the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in late May, 2007.
