Mamco

Situated in the heart of Geneva in an old industrial building, the Mamco (Musée d’art moderne et contemporain) is the largest and youngest Swiss museum dedicated to contemporary art. Over 4 floors, the Mamco presents works of art spanning the last 40 years, by means of temporary exhibitions or spaces consecrated to the display of the collection, rich on over 4,000 works.

Since its opening in 1994, the museum has presented over 300 exhibitions, of which many important retrospectives (Claudio Parmiggiani, Martin Kippenberger, Jim Shaw, Bertrand Lavier, Steven Parrino and more recently John M Armleder), which consider the diversity and dynamism of the Swiss and international art scenes. Attentive to its public, the institution develops activities which facilitate access to contemporary art, such as guided visits or presentations by artists.

Every Sunday, Mamco’s guides are at visitors’ disposition to present exhibitions or to engage in conversation around a work.
