Milford Galleries Dunedin

Milford Galleries Dunedin presents exhibitions which report the quality and diversity of New Zealand art and seeks to support and contribute to the dialogue between national and international artists and their audiences. The Gallery produces publications in support of larger shows. In 1999 Milford Galleries Auckland opened in the heart of Auckland’s central city art district and in 2000 the business began to curate touring exhibitions. In 2003 milford galleries queenstown opened in the Gardens/Lakeside area of central Queenstown.

Permanent Collection

The Gallery consists of three main spaces – a primary exhibition area, a smaller side gallery for more intimate exhibitions and a large central room usually used for rotating stock shows. One of the Gallery’s distinctive features is that irrespective of the exhibition programme there is always a large variety of work available to view - catalogues of the Gallery’s full stock are available for visitors to browse through at leisure and all work is held on-site in one of New Zealand’s largest art store rooms.

Exhibitions

The Gallery combines a programme of new work by its exhibiting artists with curated exhibitions of selected works from the secondary market. A new exhibition is opened in the main space every three to four weeks; the side and central galleries allow multiple shows to be held simultaneously. Once or twice a year the whole space will be used for a solo or group survey.
