Musée Jurassien

The Jurassien Art and History Museum of Delemont stores the memories of the Jura regions that make up the Episcopal Principality of Basel. Founded in 1909 by the abbot Arthur Darcourt, the museum is actually constituted by the Jura and Bern counties as well as the municipal and bourgeois communities of Delemont.
A stylish place in the heart of the old town of Delemont, the museum displays its collection in 5 old buildings. They are part of the 18th and 19th century architecture in the town. There are 21 permanent exhibit rooms that show the cultural, social, political, and economic aspects of Jurassien history. One room is dedicated to temporary exhibits. Here, the museum strives to show a unique view of society, art, and history. A place for exchanging ideas and reflection, the museum participates actively in social and cultural life today.

Permanent Collection

The collection is composed of fine arts, graphic arts, documents, political and military artefacts, religious objects, artesian and industrial tools, and everyday objects. The permanent exhibit offers means of learning about where people come from, of knowing oneself, and of being conscious of current issues and opening up to others.
