Musée Maurice Estève

The Hôtel des Echevins is an exceptional location in which to present the work of Maurice Estève (1904-2001), a remarkable painter of the second part of the twentieth century.

This 15th and 17th century edifice, classed a historical monument in 1886, houses the donation of Monique and Maurice Estève.

Spread over three floors which are connected by the spiral staircase, the museum offers a chronological journey through the work of this French creator.

Education

The museum education department receives visits from over 10,000 children and teenagers each year, who take part in the numerous activities the museum has to offer.

The museum’s emphasis is on the pleasure that art has to offer, to raise curiosity in young visitors, and, as Renoir stated, “If I no longer had fun while I painted, I would have stopped painting long ago
