Museo Catedralicio De Segorbe

The Museo Catedralicio de Segorbe is located inside Segorbe Cathedral and holds many of the works of art from it. Other works come from pieces acquired by the bishopric and other parishes. Highlights include pieces brought from the Royal Carthusian of Valdecristo such as representations from Valencia’s Gothic and Renaissance periods, the golden ages of painting in the region.

The museum holds the best collection of Gothic painting from Valencia, second only to the Fine Arts Museum of Valencia. It is located in the cathedral cloister, accessible via an 18th-century staircase.

Permanent Collection

The museum’s collection includes gold and silver work, painting and religious sculpture above all. Outstanding pieces are panels by Limoges from the 16th century, a Madonna in the Donatello room, a marble relief from Carrara, Gothic paintings by Pere Serra and Rodrigo de Osona the Younger and a series of tablets from the cathedral’s altarpiece dated between 1525 and 1531, crowning works from the Spanish renaissance.

Among the other genres represented there are liturgical ornaments and furnishings dating from the 15th to the 19th century, ecclesiastical furniture and patrimonial documents.
