Museo Di Fotografia Contemporanea

Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea is the first public museum dedicated to contemporary photography in Italy. It was opened in april 2004. The photographic heritage is made of 1.800.000 images by more than 600 authors, from Italy and all over the world. A purposeful overview on italian and foreign photography from the end of Second World War. Most represented themes are: transformations in contemporary landscape, the portrait, social photography, artistic researches.
Most important Museum activities are: preservation and valorisation of photography, exhibitions, events and performances, conferences and seminars on contemporary photography development, permanent education, commission assignments to photographers. It is particularly important for Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea to stimulate the reflection on the relationship between photography and other artistic expressions.
The Museum library holds over 14.000 books and magazines, all specialized in contemporary photography.
The educational service provides special projects with schools and promotes study and divulgation of photography.
The Museum is a foundation made by Provincia di Milano and Comune di Cinisello Balsamo, with Epson Italy as private partner.
