Permanent Collection

Phoenix Art Museum's Collection includes 17,000 works of art that span the centuries and the globe. Emphasis is on American, Asian, European, Latin American, modern and contemporary, and Western American art, and fashion design. Not to be missed are the Thorne Miniature Rooms of historic interiors and the interactive children's gallery, ArtWorks. You can learn about the Collection through video presentations in the Museum's Orientation Theater and create your own tour with the Museum's entertaining as well as educational MP3 audioguide. News and events

Enjoy outstanding independent and classic cinema and documentaries relating to art, artists, and works on view in the Museum, usually followed by discussion. All Movies at the Museum showings are free and first come, first seated. For information on the movie and music schedule please see, http://www.phxart.org/events/eventsfilmmore.asp


Education

Educators may schedule tours of special exhibitions or the Museum’s collection by contacting the Tour Coordinator at (602) 257-4356. Tours require 5 weeks advance notice and are subject to the relevant admission charge depending on day of the week and group age.

Each fall, Phoenix Art Museum Docents host a training program for classroom volunteers to present art programs in schools. Weekly sessions provide art teaching techniques, easy classroom projects and a bit of art history. Other workshops for educators are offered occasionally in conjunction with special exhibitions.


Families

Family Fun Days
Children ages 5 and up and their adult companions can explore the Museum together, enjoy a variety of activities or get creative with a hands-on art project. Family Fun Days are sponsored in part by Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture and Scottsdale League for the Arts. Included with Museum general admission.
