Worthing Museum And Art Gallery

Since 1908 we have been situated at the heart of Worthing, collecting and caring for objects of our heritage. Our attractive Edwardian building houses an extensive collection of archaeology, costume and textiles, toys and dolls, and ephemera, alongside a large collection of fine arts.

Permanent Collection

The Museum's collections are very diverse. We have one of the largest costume collections in the country as well as a stunning collection of toys and dolls.

The Fine Art and Decorative Art Collections span several centuries and many styles. Many of the pieces are by very influential British artists and craftsmen, and we now have over 2000 works, comprising oil paintings, watercolours, pastels, prints, drawings, miniatures, tempera, sculptures and sketchbooks.

The Local History Archive is very extensive as are the Archaeology and Geology Collections.

Please note that not all of these items will be on display at any one time and if you want to see something particular when you visit it is a good idea to contact us in advance. If the object is not on display we will do our best to show it to you.

Exhibitions

The museum's annual programme of changing exhibitions in the Art Gallery, Norwood Hallery, Sculpture Garden and The Studio draws vitisors back time and again!
