| Description: | In Pattern the work seeks to examine the relationship between the object as a historical artefact, a tool in a mechanised process and the
object as hand painted artwork, both in terms of its life as a design pattern and the subsequent extending of the paint with water to the edge
of the paper. As an industrial artefact it combines references from colonialism and mass factory employment to the earliest development of
mechanised looms and computer systems. Following a certain inherent logic the work aims to foreground a questioning of the position of the
artist in regard to intention, creativity and the relationship between the processes of artistic and productive labour. |
