A fascination in the human body’s conflicting possibilities underpins my work. The marks and traces of daily life and the physical manifestations left behind give form to shapes that are imagined in my paintings. I want the original trace to continue but take on a new form through an entanglement of the real and the imagined. The familiar becomes something else, sometimes fantastic. As I work I constantly move between thinking about the image and ways of painting to show form. I make paintings which are saturated with human drama and the body is suggested like shed skin.

Work of art I would like to make

If chosen I want to create a new body of paintings and create rooms for a haunting encounter that encourage thoughts, which oscillate between sex and death.

I will explore further the entangled possibilities of the real and the imagined self. It will be an uncomplicated exploration, as I want to study what happens when nothing much happens, as this is life as it is experienced by most of us most of the time. However, I am looking for the moment when the ordinary transforms into something compelling and extraordinary.
