Pain is an unpleasant feeling often caused by intense or damaging stimuli. Pain is hard to describe. Pain is transitory – lasting until healing or the removal of the pathogen. There are different types of pain and how people tolerate pain varies widely. Healthcare professionals need extra help understanding your pain – how it feels, where it is and how strong is feels. They cannot see or feel your pain and therefore rely on a patient’s description for diagnosis and prognosis. In my work I have researched into a non subjective way of describing pain, by associating pain with words and visuals.
