I chose to look at the significance of colour in photographs, both in digital and film. I started off by looking and researching such artists as William Eggleston and Stephen Shore who both are early colour film photographers and then I finished off the unit by looking at a modern digital photographer Matt Stuart. Both William Eggleston and Stephen Shore inspired me greatly; it wasn’t just their unique subject choice, but mostly their technique and style. I was fascinated how these masters of photography framed their photographs and how they looked at mundane daily objects from a completely different perspective. At first working in their style was difficult as it felt as if I was just photographing “random” objects, but soon I started planning my photographs and I started to pick out objects and notice simple “boring” things but from a different angle, I then began to compose my photographs in a much more sophisticated way. My final piece is a collection of only a few photographs that I have taken, these photographs have been slightly aged and framed in painted aged frames, hung up on wallpaper which has a 70’s feel to it just because of the repetitive pattern. Over all I’m completely happy with my final outcome, the work leading to this final piece and I believe my photography has developed greatly throughout this unit. |
