The work exhibited brings together some of the elements of a project undertaken by a group of boys. The boys looked at work which took the physical object of the book as its starting point, developing into three-dimensional outcomes in the from of either sculpturs or installations. The boys' own sculpyural work developed in one or two ways. Some pieces grew out of a physical process of experimentation- a process of cutting, folding and tearing the book until the desired form emerged. Other pieces emerged more consciously from the meaning of the book-its tile, plot or characters.
The second part of the project covers the walls of the exhibition space. Drawing on light architectural forms by suspending them from the ceiling creates a depth and a sculptural piece in its own right. |
