A disturbance in space

A disturbance in space
Photo Description:
In this wall sculpture I was examining the stark contrast between flat planes, and jagged shards. I wanted to see how this juxtaposition of contrasting forms could relate to the idea of a rapidly transforming urban landscape. Despite neither resembling a building, nor a city, the piece is intended to represent unsustainable growth in systems. Whether the system is physical, abstract or virtual is irrelevant, the growth still transforms resolutely from order to disorder, becoming ever more complex. This process is represented by the jagged forms growing up like weeds in between the sleek, black platforms.
