Every Beach I’ve Ever Been To: 1995-2013

Every Beach I’ve Ever Been To: 1995-2013
Photo Description:
Materials: found deckchair, calico, silk organza, found fabric samples, film photo transfers, wood, sand, plaster casts, found objects, soundscape My installation explores my strange relationship with beaches. I used my childhood dislike of them as a starting point. I have attempted to recreate this experience by removing and altering different elements of my memories of the beach and placing them together, in a different space. A wooden sandpit surrounds a segment of beach containing found objects, a deckchair covered with reminders of my beach-history, which have all lost their character and original purpose, and an unconventional seaside soundscape, ruining a supposedly beautiful experience.
