Each block sculpture is the recreation of a block tower I made more than 10 years ago. I wanted to explore ways in which our minds change from when we are children to adolescents and then for the rest of our lives. When the blocks were first put together they were placed one by one from the mind of a child who was only beginning to be influenced by the world around her and was able to create the towers freely. When I began to put them together again as a seventeen year old, I was forced to create them by following the set form. This process was reflective of the way I think now, more aware of my surroundings and greatly influenced by those around me and the accumulation of my experiences in my life so far. The project acted as both a tribute to myself as a child and the freedom I once had, as well as a symbol of what I can achieve now and will continue to do in the future.
