Ophelia

Ophelia
Photo Description:
The reality we know is merely an illusion. Matter is impermanent, and the notion of the self is the root of fallacy. Our world is one of infinite variety, where the duality of opposites is the origin of all things— but in truth, all existence is one. In this series, I photographed young women shrouded in gossamer. With the ability to bring new life into this world, the woman’s body acts as a gateway between the physical and spiritual realms. In essence, the woman is Theotokos, and she carries Brahman, the ultimate reality, within her. The veil represents Maya, the illusion that distorts our perception of things, and divides the unity of the cosmos.
