Be e

Be e
Photo Description:
This self-directed linoleum relief print is a representation of an abstract childhood memory and speaks to humanity's assumed dominance over the animal kingdom. The intentional noise around the honeybee is a representation of a movement or shudder, suggesting this bee is not dead, but rather in a insecticide induced limbo between life and death. The separated wing is a reference to the torture that I remember being inflicted onto insects by neighborhood boys as a child. This unnecessary pain induced by humans on insects speaks to a deep-seated disposition of humans to assert their dominance over the animal kingdom. The triangle which is implied by the outline of the bee represents the food chain and the importance of pollinators within ecosystems.
