My photography series, ‚ÄúCarbon Copies,‚ÄĚ conceals the predictability of suburban houses through renovation with my pencil. Homes that lie in typical suburban settings often appear as pale imitations of one another. This series aims at breaking the cycle of uniformity and conformity that can be prevalent within suburban communities. These wide varieties of shapes displayed on the exterior and interior of the house add many mixed emotions towards the house. The sharp and long triangular architecture above the balcony can make the viewers have an overwhelming feeling of power, while the garage and windows have soft curved and arched shapes towards them which can make the viewer feel more calm and in control. The diagonal lines you see represent either a window, transparent item, or something that is simply non existent anymore. It is up to the viewers as to how they want to interpret it.
