'You & I'

Photo Description:
A 6ft shattered glass encrusted mannequin inspired by the idea of being able to transform the human body. Caitlin was interested in the work of Antony Gormley and experimented with the idea of self inspired sculptures based upon materials relative to her personality. Although the sculpture is self-inspired and constructed using a material relative to her own personality Caitlin was also interested in idea of public engagement and interaction and by creating a sculpture only based upon herself then she felt she ran the risk of losing the public’s engagement. She then experimented with materials that would combine both her personality and the public’s ability to engage, finally deciding on mirror. The sculpture allows the public to not only personally engage with the piece, but actually become it when looking closely at it.
