In a persian market

string, doorframe, printed on photographic paper
i have been exploring the idea of string for a while and whilst looking at other artists i developed different ideas and contexts in which string can be applied. In this piece i have strung some red/orange thread tightly across a door frame and then taken the photograph from an acute angle above the instillation looking down on a persian rug. I have called it "In a persian market" because the string where it has caught the light looks similar to a long exposure photograph which indicates busyness and the persian rug together with this busy energy created its own name, in a way. |
