WHERE SCHOOLS CAN DISPLAY
THEIR PUPILS' ARTWORK

Darwen Moorland High School

Darwen moorland High School is at a very interesting stage in tis development. In September 2008 it is planned to transform into the Darwen Aldridge Community Academy and move to a mult-million pound town centre site around 2010.
The School achieved its best ever KS3 and GCSE results in 2007 and is imporving in all areas. Standards are rising, attendance is improving, the climate for learning is very positive and Moorland has an exciting future ahead.
The strengths of the school are inextricably linked with the qualitiesof the students and staff. Youngsters are lively, engaging, enthusiastic and extremely talented. Staff are able, committed, loyal, supportive and friendly. All of this ensures we get the very best from our young people.
Our core purpose is that all stduents should experience the joy and success and maximise achievement.
We are fortunate that Art is a real strength of the school. We have an ever growing local reputation for high quality art work and the standard of work in the classroom and on display is something of which we are extremely proud.
The faculty is led by Louise Klinck with support from Colin Grand (AST in Art), Chris pearson (highly experienced practioner) and Diane Anderson (a practising Artist and our Artist in residence). Unsurprisingly with such talented staff our subject residual at GCSE is extremely positive and our value added in Art is significant.
Art is displayed all around the school and emphasises the importance of high quality in whatever you do. Our annual Art exhibition held in the Summer Term is an event of some stature and the gallery/showcase in 2007 was as good an exhibtion as you will fing in many a gallery.
We are immensely proud of our students' artwork. Take a look for yourselves.
