Why War?

Why War?
Photo Description:
The starting point for our students was The Bayeux Tapestry. After group discussions about the different perspectives of both winners and losers in war, the children decided they wanted to explore and express their views, children's views. The process of creating involved each child making mind maps and then individual drawings. The children took a vote and decided to create a group piece, a story that included every child's ideas and illustrations. The belief that it takes many individuals not one to put an end to war came through very strongly. Therefore rather than submit an individual's work, they wanted to submit their group piece. The work is a wool tapestry. It is approximately 7 foot by 3.5 foot. Therefore rather than submit an individual's work, we wanted to submit a group piece. The work is a wool tapestry.
