Bacup And Rawtenstall Grammar School

Rossendale / United Kingdom

Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School BRGS is a non fee paying grammar school celebrating 100 years of history in 2013-2014. Situated in an historically relatively deprived area of Lancashire, BRGS is a place where innovation and aspiration run alongside a commitment to historical values and traditions. Admission to lower school is via a selective entrance exam, but the sixth form is open to a wider range of ability, and a large number of our sixth form students join us from other schools, leading to a lovely mix of pupils from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Our art department is an enthusiastic and energetic one and is increasing in reputation. We have relatively limited facilities (ie. no studio so we cannot teach oil painting) but we do our best with what is available. We push our students to relish all aspects of art, craft and design and to attain highly. They gain very strong results and many go on to creative courses at University.
