SAATCHI GALLERY OUTREACH PROGRAMME

For the third year running we have been able to offer artist-led workshops to students from schools where the need is greatest. Students work with artist Jack Brown in a studio-style setting at the Gallery. The workshops increase pupils' understanding of fine art processes and provide the opportunity to work with specialist art materials, helping pupils to explore and realise their creative potential. We bring two schools together at a time, with group sizes no bigger than 12, enabling Jack and their teachers to spend dedicated time with each student.

This year artist-led Continued Professional Development (CPD) workshops were introduced for art teachers from these schools. The workshops aim to support art teachers who are working with limited resources by providing space, time, solutions and ideas to approaching art making, and ultimately serve to open up the Schools Prize to students from all educational backgrounds. Teachers are invited to participate in a twilight workshop session at the Gallery, delivered in one of the main gallery spaces. The sessions comprise both theoretical and practical elements, focusing on new thinking tools, new approaches to working with inexpensive materials and the practicalities of entering the Schools Prize.
