The New Man
The New Man
Photo Description:
Life size head made from clay and then painted in red, silver and crimson red. My sculpture represents “The Shape of Thing To Come” in many ways, the first being the development of technology and the other being the way things come and go in the sense that if something new comes in the older thing will either slowly fade away or just completely be wiped in order to make room for the new thing. In this case it’s robots, robots will become more superior than humans in the future and the humans will either become slaves or will be left behind due extinction. The way I finished my sculpture of embodies the actual creation of the character behind the sculpture. It helps illustrate the process of which the robots are made, the sculpture looks like it’s been taken out of a molten rock fused with a metallic substance in order to create its hard and durable body. Inspiration was taken from books such “Animal Farm” and “1984” by George Orwell and movies such as “IROBOT” and “Terminator” as well as “Metropolis”.
