Journey - Scapes
Journey - Scapes
Photo Description:
For my outcome, I set myself the task to investigate collage and composition. Firstly, I looked at the history, and found many inspirational artists like the founders Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. I was particularly influenced by the ‘journey’ Picasso had whilst designing his work. He would collect things throughout his journeys and put them together to make his own composition; he combined this with his love of music. I collected things, which could show my own personality e.g. train tickets and football tickets. I then looked at Kurt Schwitters, whose emigration during the Second World War inspired exciting collages. I then took this a step further by looking into the textural qualities of work of Max Ernst. I continued my journey by experimenting with rubbings and drawings. A particular photo I took reminded me of Gerhard Richter’s cage paintings. who’s exhibition i went to see his exhibition at the Tate.
