Knots and memories (detail)
Knots and memories (detail)
Photo Description:
A hanging installation constructed from knotted strips of latex silk, dyed in various flesh tones. As a representation of individual memories across the span of a lifetime, the interconnections of knots represent the way in which individual reminiscences and events branch into other significant memories. This concept is further developed by the subtle changing colour representing the fading of memory across time and therefore the knotted forms are of central importance, symbolic of the need for repetition annd reminiscing to keep those memories alive. Alexander McQueen, Barbara Zucker and Eva Hesse have all been sources of inspiration throughout this project.
