Methods and Materials:
Unique Range of Artist Led Workshops

Through July and August the Saatchi Gallery has teamed up with Winsor & Newton to present an exclusive range of practical workshops at the Saatchi Gallery. Hosted by a number of the professional artists involved in the Winsor & Newton Water Colour Revolution, each workshop will be tailored to deliver invaluable, technical information of this demanding medium.

Sunday 6 July, 10am - 2pm Introduction to Graphic Novels Emily Haworth-Booth, who teaches 'Drawing of the Graphic Novel' at The Prince's Drawing School, will guide participants through the process of making their very own graphic short story or comic using personal memories or an event from their own life. Saturday 19 July, 11am - 1pm Memory Boxes Fay Ballard, member of the Royal Watercolour Society and commissioned by The Prince of Wales to paint at Highgrove, will guide participants in making contemporary water colour painting using experimental techniques and an expressive colour palette. Exploring the concept of identity, participants are asked to bring a photograph or small object of personal significance. Book tickets
 
Saturday 26 July, 11am - 1pm Mixed Media Masterclass Join artist Diana Taylor for an exploration into mixed media based on personal experiences of landscapes and journeys. The workshop will cover experimentation with processes in mono-print, image transfer and collage, combined with water colour painting techniques to create layered artworks. Book tickets
 
Saturday 26 July, 2 - 4pm Mixed Media Masterclass Abstract artist Mark Jesset will guide participants through an exploration of the use of colour and form to suggest movement and depth. Jessett will share the techniques and methods he employs to create vibrant and visually compelling artworks. You will then have the chance to try for yourself by using Winsor & Newton materials to learn to experiment with colour. Book tickets
 
Sunday 27 July, 11am - 1pm Contemporary Oil Painting Highly regarded artist Ed Haslam will work with participants to explore how the human figure can be expressed in oil paint. Haslam will share his process which manipulates the reality of the human form to create a heightened sense of being. Book tickets
 
Sunday 27 July, 2 - 4pm Contemporary Water Colours Artist Peter Haslam-Fox will share the techniques and methods he employs to create vibrant and visually compelling artworks. Saturday 2 August, 10am - 12pm Contemporary Oil Painting Join highly regarded artist Bartholemew Beal to explore his practice of working with Imaginist Poetry to create beguiling and atmospheric paintings. Participants will experiment with oil paints and various techniques to create original art works. Book tickets
 
Sunday 3 August, 11am - 1pm Sketching from Life Work with professional artist Sean Rohr and a life model to uncover the art of sketching from a live model. Rohr will guide participants through the principals and techniques he employs in his own practice, to help participants extend their skills. Book tickets
