Abilene Christian University

ACU is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The university welcomes all students who value the strong Christian environment and exceptional teaching offered on the campus. Required daily chapel and required Bible courses contribute to the open acknowledgement of Christian faith as an important aspect of the lives of most ACU students. All faculty, staff, administrators and members of the Board of Trustees are Christians.

Our Students and Faculty

More than 4,800 students, including about 550 graduate students, come to ACU from 50 states and 60 countries. We have a diverse and global environment, which we believe enriches student learning. Our students are served by about 200 faculty members who focus on high-quality teaching, scholarship and service. More than 90 percent of tenure-track faculty hold terminal degrees. The student/faculty ratio is less than 17:1. The faculty and administrators are actively involved as leaders and presenters in many national professional associations, and ACU is an active member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Location and Getting there

Department and information about the department

We in the Abilene Christian University Art and Design Department believe that our program in the visual arts owes its excellence to its faculty, its facilities, and its students. Our versatile faculty is made up of award-winning artists; we are leaders in our various disciplines and media, artists that actively produce and exhibit our creative work. We are proud to announce that our Interior Design program was granted a six-year accreditation by FIDER in 2005.

We value our roles as educators: we love to teach because we love what we teach. Our intent is to teach not only by what we say, but in everything we do. To this end, we strive to be educators who motivate, inspire, and nurture-we seek to be true mentors to our students.

As artists and educators, we believe that art has a unique power to change our world, to make it a more beautiful, generous, rich, and open place. Moreover, we are convinced that the world needs more than artists, it needs Christian artists: artists that in their talent and power of creative expression proclaim the glory of the Creator.
