Delaware College Of Art And Design

Two of America's oldest and most distinguished colleges of the visual arts, Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design, have come together in a unique partnership to create the Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD).

This important new institution shares the traditions and the extraordinary resources of professionalism, experience and expertise that have made Pratt and the Corcoran world leaders in art and design education for over 100 years.

Just as Pratt and Corcoran alumni have been prominent among those who have set our country's creative course throughout the 20th century, so the graduates of DCAD will join future alumni in shaping the visual arts in America as we enter the third millennium. Pratt and the Corcoran share curriculum, faculty and resources with the college, providing one of the richest educational opportunities available in American art education today.

Our Aims

The Delaware College of Art and Design is a branch campus of the Corcoran College of Art and Design, which is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, (215) 662-5606. Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design are accredited by both the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the nation's only recognized body for the accreditation of art colleges. As a new school, DCAD has provisional approval to operate in the state of Delaware from the State Board of Education, which grants its legal authority to award degrees.

Information For  International Students

International students contribute to and benefit from the diverse population of DCAD and the surrounding areas, and are encouraged to apply. The college offers small classes in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere to maximize students artistic achievement and success.The rolling admission policy is also in effect for international student applicants.  

Student Facilities

The Delaware College of Art and Design is a close-knit community that offers students a variety of resources to enhance the classroom experience and aid in individual artistic development.

State-of-the-art-educational and housing facilities include one of the top photo labs in Delaware, professional level MAC and PC computer labs and a Library/Information Resource Center built specifically around DCAD's majors and areas of discipline.

A dedicated and nurturing faculty of professional artists has come to define DCAD's success and play a vital role in each student's future as they move on to further education or to careers in art and design.

DCAD's culturally rich environment and detailed focus on the fundamental elements of academic success further contribute to the progress and achievements of our students.

Student Life

Student life at DCAD is closely linked to the life of Wilmington and the many cultural and professional resources of the region. The Office of Student Services is responsible for overseeing the general welfare of students, offering support services and for planning both recreational and educational activities. Among the many support services offered are career counseling, health and safety education and personal counseling. Throughout the year, the office sponsors a variety of educational, social and cultural activities to strengthen the knowledge, experience and life of the DCAD community. A Student Council facilitates participation and input from the student body.  


DCAD offers apartment style accommodations in the Saville Apartments directly across the street from studio and academic facilities at 600 North Market Street.
