Doncaster College

Doncaster College is the largest provider of further education in South Yorkshire. It is also one of the largest providers of higher education in the region.

During the last academic year, more than 33,000 people enrolled on over 1,100 part and full-time courses across its two campuses, the College employs around 1,200 staff and accommodates students aged 16+.

Its main campus is the exciting new £65m Waterfront development in the centre of Doncaster. The Hub, as it is known, opened in September 2006 and is home to some of the best educational facilities in the United Kingdom. It includes state-of-the-art IT facilities, a 100-seat lecture theatre, a 200-seat drama studio and a massive two-floor Learning Resource Centre.

The University Centre, Doncaster is the Hub's sister campus and is home to the College's Faculty of Arts. Set in 126 acres of idyllic west Doncaster countryside in High Melton, the Faculty of Arts caters for both further education and higher education students.

Location and Getting there

Situated in South Yorkshire, Doncaster is easily reached from any part of the country. The East Coast Main Line gives direct rail access to Leeds, London and Edinburgh, with connections to all major British cities, while the North-South A1/M1 and East-West M62/M18 motorways are at the heart of the national road network. Robin Hood Airport, with the second longest runway in Europe, serves international destinations around the world.

Doncaster College has two main sites in the Borough of Doncaster. The new Waterfront site is the major site, situated in the heart of the town. The High Melton site is where the majority of our undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses are delivered. High Melton is situated six miles west of Doncaster and is easily accessible by car or by bus. The College operates a free bus service to students between the different College sites.

* BA (Hons) Music with Digital Media
This degree offers you an 'alternative' approach to the traditional study of music at degree level, with the aim of embracing and celebrating the diversity of new music in today's culture.

* BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles
A Design course structured to provide a route into employment into the Fashion and Textiles industries.
We aim to help students achieve their full potential through being challenged, stimulated, informed and rewarded. As part of this, technical and critical skills associated with creativity will be developed to a high standard.

* BA (Hons) Dance Practice with Digital Performance
This programme focuses on developing creative dancers, who want to further their experience by performing and choreographing. In addition to dance training, dancers also explore how new digital technologies impact contemporary dance practice by using interactive digital performance systems within some of their work.

Being from Doncaster, it’s great to have such great facilities on your doorstep. But when I was at school I was told I would never be able to study for a degree in my chosen subject. I was delighted to prove them wrong this summer as anything is possible at Doncaster College.

I graduated last month at a superb ceremony at Doncaster Minster, organised by the College. It was a fantastic day and everything went well – it didn’t even rain. The immediate night out wasn’t bad either. But that’s all part of being a student.

After spending three years at the College at the old Church View site I was sad to leave and part of me wishes I was still studying because the new campus looks great. I would also like to thank my tutors for all their work in helping me attain my degree.

Doncaster College Halls of Residence are located on the High Melton site. Accommodation is available in single study bedrooms in halls, which are self-catering. All rooms have access to fully fitted kitchens.

Full-Time Undergraduates

Doncaster College is a member of the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). UCAS processes applications for undergraduate courses. We recommend that you apply as early as you can in the academic year before the course begins to avoid disappointment.
